Environmental Activities

( just move your ass ! )

As a brand and manufacturer, we believe we must lead by example — in our work as well as in our private lives.

Fashion is not only about garments. It is also connected to the way we live.

Protecting our environment, taking social responsibility, and finding ways for both us and our customers to reduce our impact on the planet are not just trends. They are inevitable, important, useful wake-up calls that nobody can honestly deny.

But why do we have such a huge cultural deficit when it comes to simply picking up a small piece of plastic lying here and there?

Even though the topic is omnipresent, “everyone” seems to walk straight past the opportunity to pick up that tiny piece of plastic sitting right under their nose.

Just think about the gap between private action and public talk.

And of course, everyone wants to see the green certificate. The requirements are easily added to the wish list.

For us, the quality of GEPPEBBA depends not only on the finished product, but also on the materials and methods we use to make it. It means taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of a product and constantly examining how we use resources — everywhere.

We engage in environmental protection activities and try to keep things as simple as possible:

the lowest possible production quantity
= earn just enough to survive
= lower impact on nature

No car
= no money for gas
= no CO₂ emissions from driving.

In the majority of cases, no new technology is needed.

Innovation is pure renunciation!

You can identify the desire for comfort, stupidity and greed as some of the main reasons behind the depletion of wildlife and nature.

But honestly, if you have a car, would you sell it?

We did exactly that — just to see how far we could get by simply leaving things out, and to do our part for nature.

As a result, we were forced to travel excessively by train…

…and experienced an incredible surprise!

By exploring our physical limits every day, we somehow landed in the world of ultra-endurance sports. We realised that an Ironman is basically a sprint distance, and that ultratrail running should be possible for everybody!

Reduction makes you so much stronger — it’s tremendous!

Running 80 km without any problems was an incredible feeling within the ultrarunning scene, and taking part in 160 km races was a real experience.

But along the way, we also discovered that wearing down the soles of running shoes doesn’t exactly make you 100% eco-friendly. We also got confirmation of premature hip osteoarthritis — and, of course, the car is still burning gasoline somewhere else…

Environment Policy

  • We create real products and produce on request. No seasonal collections for the sake of having collections, no overproduction.
Yes, who is talking about overproduction? Patagonia is one of the few brands we can mention here — and we are true fans of the brand.

  • We have a strong preference for Made in Europe. Short delivery routes are one of the key factors in reducing the environmental impact of a product. And we adore craftsmanship — fair trade starts local!

  • Sustainability is 100% part of our DNA. But as a matter of course, we don’t turn it into a marketing concept. We recommend wearing your clothes until they have truly reached the end of their material lifetime — and then repairing them again and again. That is probably the greenest thing you can do. And maybe you already have enough clothes anyway, so please buy only when you really need something!

  • We don’t do fake vintage styles or artificially distressed looks. Enjoy the process of things getting old — the real result is much nicer than any fake stonewash or manufactured “used look” could ever be.

We also think it is absolutely stupid for the denim industry to deliberately shorten the lifetime of a garment through mostly harmful treatments and effects, or by using unnecessary energy — often from harmful sources — to make new jeans look old.

“Innovative” laser treatments and so-called water-reduced washing? That’s just industrial bullshitting the customer.

And how can there even be instructions that deliberately destroy a new pair of jeans in order to create a so-called “used look”?

    Stop it!

  • We have excellent manufacturing contacts throughout Europe for embroidery, sewing, laundry, dyeing and more. All of them hold environmental certifications and meet the highest standards currently possible.

We work with carefully selected suppliers for fabrics, yarns and other components, including Berto, Panama Trimmings, MIC, Ricamificio Errebi, Tobby, YKK, Sintex, Oyster and UCO.

Our environmental principles

  1. We recognise that all business activities can have an impact on the environment. We therefore promote energy conservation, resource reduction and recycling wherever possible.

  2. By setting environmental objectives and working towards them, we continuously improve our environmental management system, with a focus on preventing pollution.

  3. In addition to complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, we adhere to any additional requirements we have committed ourselves to.

  4. Being environmentally conscious enables us to provide products and services that our customers can trust.

  5. We also apply at home the methods we have learned through our environmental activities, aiming to live in harmony with the society and environment of which we are part.

  6. By eliminating unnecessary waste, we streamline and improve the efficiency of our operations while reducing costs and resource consumption.
